Mon 10-Jul-2006:  Increasing demand from across the country for its cask and bottled beers has prompted Witney (Oxon) based Wychwood Brewery to replace an 18tonne four wheel dray with an Aire Truck Bodies/Mercedes six wheel rigid Lowliner chassis combination to improve operating flexibility, manoeuvrability and safety and, at the same time, boost payload to over 15.5tonnes.

It's a total year around aftermarket service that covers on-site repairs and fast delivery of parts for all types of popularly fitted dry freight and temperature managed body. It also includes repair and maintenance contracts tailored to match the specific needs of individual operators.


Available at the end of a phone (0121 520 7765) 24 hours a day, Aire Body Care has been launched for operators based in England and Wales. Full roll out across the UK is planned for later this year. Expansion of the service to include ten fully equipped mobile workshops manned by trained body engineers is planned within two years...

Fri 7-Nov-2003:  High street health and beauty giant Superdrug have taken delivery of the first Volvo trucks in their fleet: 12 FM9’s and 24 FM12’s, citing fuel economy and driver acceptance as the major reasons for the decision. The FM9’s are specified as rigids, while the FM12’s are tractor units. All the trucks, which have been supplied by Crossroads Truck & Bus at Birstall in West Yorkshire, bear the company’s new livery.

The day cab-equipped 4 x 2 rigids have 260bhp engines and are plated at 18 tonnes GVW for radial distribution and store deliveries. Their 8.3m x 2.55m x 2.1m, glass reinforced plastic bodywork is by specialist builders Aire Truck of Leeds. It has a galvanised steel underframe, alloy periphery framework and reinforced bulkhead, with a Zintec steel rearframe. A Ratcliff RQ1507 electric tail lift with 1050mm alloy platform is fitted below the rear roller shutter door, while internal load restraint is via a SIMARK six-strap system and two levels of Load-Lok track. Two timer-switched interior lights illuminate the load space...

Mon 1-Sep-2003:  South Derbyshire based Burial Ground Services UK Ltd has taken delivery of the country's first ever vehicle to be purpose built and equipped to handle single body exhumations.

Key to the vehicle's design has been 3.2m (10.5ft) grp body with insulated roof and roof vents from Aire Truck Bodies at Tipton. It is divided into clean and dirty compartments with external access to each. There is appropriate stowage for the specialist equipment and materials needed, including body bags and coffins, and facilities for the safe disposal of contaminated protective clothing, for example. Surfaces are easy to clean and sanitise - compartment walls and floors are gel coated and sealed...
